SE NNEGC Energoatom announces that it has entered the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, created this summer by the European Commission. The company received an official notification of its inclusion in the Alliance and an invitation to participate in the European Hydrogen Forum, which will occur on November 26-27, 2020.
Membership in the Alliance will provide NNEGC Energoatom with an opportunity to receive up-to-date information on the development of hydrogen energy in the EU countries and participate in events to introduce the latest hydrogen technologies.
"Our goal is to use the capacities of Ukrainian nuclear power plants efficiently, and in a global sense – to root green technologies in the energy sector to counter climate change. Energoatom has an indisputable potential to become one of the leaders in hydrogen energy not only in Ukraine but also in Europe, providing carbon-neutral hydrogen production at nuclear power plants," said Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin.
He stressed that the large-scale hydrogen use would make sense only if this energy carrier was produced by environmentally friendly generation, which was obviously nuclear power.
Leading energy and industrial companies in Europe have already joined the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, including Electricité de France (EDF), E.ON SE, BMW Group, General Electric, AREVA H2Gen, Airbus SAS, Alstom, BASF SE, Bosch Group, and many others.
Recall, in September 2020, SE NNEGC Energoatom signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine. In this document, the two companies agreed on joint project activities to ensure Ukraine's transition to a climate-neutral circular hydrogen economy by 2050.
